What are the pillows?

The current assortment of these items is quite diverse. Basically, the main criterion for the difference is the filler. According to this principle, pillows are distinguished:

• downy;
• feather;
• orthopedic;
• with synthetic filler such as synthetic winterizer, holofifer;
• with organic filling: buckwheat or other husk, dry herbs.

How to keep pillows clean?

In principle, all types of pillows are washable, except for the organic filler - it has a limited life, you can say they are disposable.

Before washing the pillow, pay attention to some features of care:

1. Do not use all kinds of conditioners and rinses, even if you really like the smell - over time, it can cause a headache or simply get tired.
2. Use only liquid detergents, as the powder will clog into the material.
3. If you are allergic, use laundry soap (pre-grate and dilute in water) or hypoallergenic drugs.
4. To prevent the appearance of linen mites, when rinsing, add a few drops of the essential oil of your choice: lavender, orange, cypress.

How to wash a feather pillow at home?

The following materials will be required for this procedure:

• New breastplate;
• Loose material such as chintz or gauze for bags in which you will pack the pen;
• Liquid detergent.

How to wash the feather and down pillow manually?

If your pillow is large and you don’t have a washing machine, in this case we offer an effective way to wash the pillow with your hands. Be prepared for the fact that this is a rather time-consuming process:

1. Sew the bags with gauze, and over the top, mark the edge with thread so that you can tighten the bag.
2. Pour warm water into a large washing container and dilute the detergent.
3. Spread the breastplate and in small parts so that the feather does not fly apart, shake it out in a soapy solution.
4. Leave to soak for several hours so that dirt and dust settle to the bottom.
5. Collect a feather with a kitchen colander, throw it in a basin.
6. Drain dirty water.
7. Rinse the pen in a colander under a stream of warm running water.
8. Wring out well.
9. Make a soapy solution again, wash the filler with your hands, and repeat the rinsing process.
10. Wring out the pen and place in the pouches.
11. A story to dry in the fresh air so that they are in the wind and the sun.
12. In the process of drying, shake each so that the fluff does not stick together.
13. When the feather dries, move it to the feather bed.
14. Beat well.

How to wash a feather or down pillow in a washing machine?

The process of washing the feather pillow in the washing machine will be a bit similar to hand washing, but with some features. Wash in several stages.

• Stage 1 - preparation:
  1. Before you wash a pillow of a large or medium size, sew three or four covers from an old sheet or old thick tulle. In this case, gauze will not work, since with mechanical washing through the pores, feather and fluff can creep through.
  2. To wash a small pillow - no need to fool around with covers, put several towels with it in the machine to distribute the laundry throughout the drum.
  3. Carefully spread the edge of the pillow, take a cover to prevent the spread of fluff throughout the room, fill the rest of the cloth containers in the same way.
  4. Do not tie the covers, but sew them tightly.
• Stage 2 - washing:
  1. Spread the items to be cleaned on the drum.
  2. Pour liquid detergents for washing fluff and feather into a powder container or dissolve baby soap.
  3. Set the wash mode for delicate fabrics.
  4. After washing, turn on the “Rinse” mode a few more times and set the maximum spin.
• Stage 3 - drying:
  1. Remove the covers from the typewriter.
  2. Mash feather lumps with your hands, distribute them evenly over the cover.
  3. Fold out the old towels, put covers on them, roll them up, remove any remaining moisture.
  4. Dry as quickly as possible, within 1-2 days, so that the pen does not have a musty smell, and mold does not form.
  5. It is advisable to dry the pen outdoors in sunny weather in a well-blown place.
  6. Thoroughly shake the bags periodically to prevent the feather from sticking together.
• Stage 4 - final:
  1. Pour the dried filler from the cover into a new bedcloth.
  2. Sweep along the edge.
  3. Sew up.

Important! It is possible to dry not only in the open air, but also on heating devices, but in this case the product will not get a fresh smell. If you are drying in a dryer, set the temperature to no more than 30 °. To prevent lint from drying out, periodically remove the covers and shake the feather.

How to wash padding pad?

It is not difficult to wash products from a synthetic winterizer, orthopedic pillows will be an exception - the gentle filler does not tolerate machine wash, it must be washed manually.

Before washing a pad from a padding polyester, check for suitability and degree of contamination:

1. Put any heavy object in the middle of the pillow.
2. Wait a while.
3. Remove the weighting agent, pay attention:
   • If the dent quickly straightened - the pillow will still serve you.
   • If the concavity remains, replace the pillow with a new one, since the filler has lost its properties.

Wiping pillows from a padding polyester is simple - just do this:

1. Refer to the care label on the label.
2. Use recommended detergents.
3. Set gentle rinse mode with a maximum spin of 600-800 rpm.
4. Dry in a well-ventilated, warm place, best outdoors in direct sunlight.

How to wash bamboo pillows?

Pillows with bamboo filling are popular because of its useful and comfortable qualities:

• environmentally friendly natural product;
• bamboo fiber holds its shape well;
• microporous structure is breathable;
• in this form of filler harmful bacteria are not formed and dust is not collected, since it has powerful antibacterial properties;
• Suitable for people with problem skin, allergic and asthmatic diseases.

If you decide to wash the bamboo pillow yourself, adhere to some conditions:

1. Before washing a bamboo pillow, check the recommendations from the manufacturer indicated on the product label: type of washing and drying.
2. Pay attention to what you can’t do:
   • Do not use active whitening products.
   • Do not use the iron to iron products with bamboo filler.
   • When drying, do not hang upright.
