• something burned or spattered during warm-up;
• You have chosen the wrong mode of operation;
• unsuitable food was placed inside the unit.

Then the microwave oven begins to smoke and fill the room with a pungent smell of burning. You can quickly cope with all the consequences of burning, including getting rid of the smell of burning in the microwave, if you follow the following rules:

1. As soon as you smell or smoke, immediately unplug the microwave oven from the mains. Open the door and get the “failed dinner”.
2. Open all the windows in the house, even if the street is cold, so as to get rid of the corrosive smell of burning as soon as possible.

How to remove the smell of burning from the microwave?

Before eliminating the smell, thoroughly wash the device from the inside.

Wash the walls, the ceiling of the microwave oven, the inside of the door, and the rotating part using one of the following means:

• Soft sponge and dish detergent.
• Vinegar. Means well removes odors from various surfaces and disinfects. Use the tool as follows:
  1. Dilute the vinegar with water in a ratio of 1 to 1.
  2. Clean the entire working surface of the microwave oven with a clean cloth dampened in solution.
  3. Leave the device for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Wipe the surface with a damp cloth without vinegar.
• Lemon:
  1. Cut the half of the lemon into circles and fill it with a glass of water.
  2. Place the container with lemon and water in the microwave.
  3. Set the maximum power.
  4. Turn on the microwave.
  5. Let the water boil.
  6. Boil the lemon for 5-7 minutes.
  7. Remove the container.
  8. Change the water.
  9. Add the remaining fresh half a lemon.
  10. Repeat the procedure again.
• Salt. Salt well removes unpleasant odors in the microwave. Pour the product on a plate and put in the microwave for a day. Salt absorbs all the smells, and not just the smell of burning.After the cleaning procedure, discard the salt.
• Activated carbon. Crush 5-10 tablets of coal and put in a saucer. Leave the product in the oven overnight.
• Any odorous herbs. For example, lavender, lemon balm, oregano, thyme. Place any herbs in a container of water and boil in an oven for 25 minutes at maximum power. Leave the solution inside until it cools.

How to remove the smell from the microwave?

After heating or cooking strongly smelling foods, such as dishes with lots of garlic, fried fish or sour-milk products, the aroma of products that does not disappear after a few days may remain in the microwave oven.

To remove the smell from the microwave, you can use the following recipes in addition to the above funds.

Soda solution

Dilute 2 teaspoons of soda in 50 ml of water and, dipping a cotton swab into the solution, treat all the walls of the device. Allow the product to dry without rinsing, and after an hour, repeat the same procedure with a fresh solution.

After processing, wipe the surface of the device with a damp cloth to remove residual baking soda.

Coffee

Coffee is one of the most effective odor control options. It not only neutralizes the source of trouble, but also replaces it with its aroma. We recommend using natural, freshly brewed coffee, but soluble is also suitable, although the effect will not be so strong.

With a coffee solution (not sweet), wipe the inside of the device. After 2-3 hours, rinse with water.

Onion

They say "wedge kick out wedge." Test folk wisdom in practice: leave pieces of peeled onion in the microwave oven overnight. Any smell, even burning, will go away, and you will not observe onion amber at the same time.

Orange peel

Throw the zest of orange into a cup of water. Boil “fresh” for about 10 minutes at full power.

Toothpaste

Toothpaste, preferably with a menthol effect, can help remove the smell from the microwave (you can use the cheapest). Squeeze the paste onto a damp sponge, and wipe the inside of the microwave oven with a product. After a while, rinse the paste with warm water.

To prevent unpleasant odors in the microwave oven, follow these preventative methods:

1. After using the appliance, leave the oven door ajar or open. 2-3 minutes are enough for the unpleasant odors to disappear and not to be absorbed into the surface of the internal walls of the device.
2. During heating or cooking, cover the dishes with a special plastic lid for the microwave oven. With this measure, you will not only get rid of the smell, but also extend the life of the device.

Important! If you don’t have a special plastic lid, then you can also cover the dishes with plastic wrap, pulling it tightly onto the container. Discard the film after cooking.

3. Process the microwave once a month with regular toothpaste. Put a little tool on the old toothbrush and clean the distant seams, corners, and the indentation under the rotating part with it. After treatment, wipe the surface with a clean, damp cloth.

1. Dilute the dishwashing detergent or kitchen surfaces in water so that a solution is obtained from which you can blow a soap bubble.
