4. Foam rubber in fairly high-quality sofas uses furniture, with a density of at least 35 mm.

Analysis of the sofa into its components

To repair the mechanism of the sofa "book" with your own hands, you need to disassemble the furniture:

1. Dismantling the sofa starts directly from the armrests. In certain models, they are combined with the legs, while in others they are separate from the legs. In the first case, put a wooden beam under the base of the sofa so that it hangs from one edge. So you do not have to tighten the bolts of the other side elements. The sides are attached with two bolts. To reach them, you need to raise the sofa seat or pull out the sliding part - it depends on the design of the sofa.
2. Once you have mastered the armrests, remove the transformation mechanism. To do this, use a screwdriver or a screwdriver, a drill. It is attached with one part to the frame itself, and the other - directly to the seat and back. In an ordinary sofa-book this will not be difficult - just turn the seat and the back with the soft part directly to the floor. Access to the mechanism is completely released.

To repair the transformation mechanism, you will need:

• Flat and Phillips screwdrivers;
• Pliers;
• Set of open-end wrenches in sizes 8/10 and 12/14;
• A set of staples and a stapler 10 and 16 mm;
• PVA glue or carpentry;
• Scissors;
• Hammer, lineman's knife;
• Self-tapping screws 35 - 45 mm;
• If there is a drill or a screwdriver, we put it in sight.

In order to repair the mechanism of the sofa, remove it and determine further the level of damage:

• If the fittings are intact, it is likely that it will be enough to lubricate the nodes with engine oil and develop.
• You can replace the spring if it is damaged. If it is excessively stretched, try shortening it a little.
• The transformation mechanism has deformed or burst directly - get identical and install.

Frame repair

With the repair of the frame it will be much more complicated, but everyone can do it. If there are broken or cracked frame elements, they must be replaced:

1. To do this, measure their exact parameters, sketch their appearance and, taking the money, go to the nearest construction hypermarket or carpentry shop. There is a department that cuts out the frame element you need. Replace the element, screw and glue the other mounting points. In doing so, pay special attention to the plywood, which is located under the spring block.
2. If any part of the frame “walks”, fasten with screws instead of nails and glue with PVA glue.
3. If there is an unpleasant creak, when you sit on the sofa disappears, collect and use for your pleasure.
