Cut the glass correctly

3. Prepare a long ruler - one and a half meters, no less.
4. Remove the dimensions from the window opening.
5. Prepare the glass - it should be 4 mm thick.

Cooking surface

With dirty glass you will not succeed. What you will insert into the frame needs to be thoroughly cleaned. Use for this:

• window cleaning products;
• soft sponges;
• solvents;
• alcohol.

Important! Regardless of which glass you insert, it is better to wash it with a soft sponge. Be sure to read the instructions on the detergent. Of course, there should be no scratches, stains, or other contaminants. The edges are best degreased.

If everything is ready for you and even the silica gel granules have already taken their places, proceed with the assembly:

1. Glue the edge of the frame with double-sided transparent tape.
2. Remove the protective layer.
3. Attach the glass.
4. Press the edges.
5. Do the same on the other side.

Professionals usually use butyl tape instead of scotch tape, and an amateur can do the same, but you need to be very careful and accurate. Both adhesive tape and butyl tape will stick instantly, so immediately after the glass is inserted, it can be glued. To do this, apply a sealant of two components along the edges and insert your work into the frame. Your insulating glass unit is ready.

Important! You need to glue the adhesive tape immediately so that you do not have to re-glue it - this is not an easy task.

Double-glazed double-glazed window

If you need a two-chamber double-glazed window, there should be two frames. They are made in the same way. After both halves are ready, the glass is laid on the table, a film is removed from the end of the profile if a butyl tape has already been pasted there.

Further, the order is as follows:

1. Peel off the film from the top of the frame.
2. Put the second glass on the frame - check that it is flush with the first.
3. Do the same with the second frame.
4. Squeeze a double-glazed window - butyl should tightly stick together with glass.
5. Fill the outer end of the double-glazed window with polyurethane-polysulfide sealant - this is done with a special spatula.
6. Wait approximately 12 hours (or how much is written on the sealant packaging).
7. Remove the remains of sealant and grind.

You can make a double-glazed window with your own hands and from the most ordinary wooden frame - the one that already stands in the windows, or a new one. It all depends on how well it has been preserved. What do you need for such a job? For glass - everything is the same as when working with a metal profile. But wooden frames have their own characteristics, so prepare the following:

• double-sided mounting tape:
• plasticine (replaced with sealant);
• hardener;
• catalyst;
• glass cleaner.

• methyl ethyl ketone peroxide dissolved in dimethyl phthalate (concentration 36%);
• synthetic paint;
• wiper.

Make sealant

First things first, you need to calculate the volume of the binder component. It depends on several parameters:

• mounting tape thickness;
• glass sizes.

For example, in order to paste over a tape having a thickness of 1 mm, a piece of glass measuring 1 square meter, you will need a liter of substance. As for the process itself, it is best to use a large volume measuring plastic cup:

1. Wash the cup properly.
2. Mix the specified components.
3. Add hardener.
4. Add toner if desired, but slightly from 1 to 5%.
5. Stir the solution.
6. Leave it to stand for twenty minutes.

Cooking glass

Working with glass is no different from that described for a metal profile. Glass must be thoroughly washed, cleaned of contaminants - in a word, it should become perfectly transparent. After the surface is washed, it must be thoroughly dried with paper towels, a newspaper or something similar - in a word, the way you usually wash the windows.

Further, the process develops as follows:

1. Paste the glass around the perimeter with mounting tape, making small gaps at the corners - 2-3 mm from the edge of the glass, no more.
2. Remove the protective layer from the tape.
3. Attach a second glass, aligning the edges.
4. Squeeze the glass so that the tape adheres properly.
5. Pour in the substance that you have recently prepared between the glasses - this is done quite simply by inserting a funnel between the glasses and tilting the glass itself.
6. Fill the space completely and tightly close the opening of the funnel, while you need to pull it out yourself.
7. Remove excess mounting tape.
8. Put the glass on a large flat table and secure.
9. Bubbles, if they appear, remove with a syringe.
10. Seal the structure around the perimeter - and let it dry for a couple of hours.

Insert into frame

Such a double-glazed window can be inserted into a wooden frame in two ways:

• like ordinary glass;
• stick in exactly the same way as the remote frame.

In the first case, you may need to expand the grooves in the frames, put the glass in, and then fill it with sealant around the edge - about the same as when making aquariums. In the second - a self-made double-glazed window should be slightly smaller than the opening: by the same centimeter as the distance frame in the first case. The bag was thick enough to hold well in the frame.
