Attacking dogs

Dogs that can attack can be conditionally divided into two categories: stray dogs and pets.

Among domestic breeds, service dogs and fighting dogs are especially dangerous in this regard. The safest are decorative breeds and hunting dogs.

Stray dogs, as a rule, attack in packs of up to five individuals, but cases of a single attack are also possible. Among stray dogs there are various breeds and their mixtures, as well as yard purebred individuals.

Important! The most dangerous, without exaggeration, are dogs infected with rabies, regardless of whether this animal is used to domestic or outdoor conditions. Since no one can be sure that he will not have to meet with an infected animal, what means of protection against dogs can be used, everyone needs to have a concept.

Types of dogs

Given the physique, animals can be divided into three categories:

• Heavy. This type includes St. Bernards, dogs, black terriers, rottweilers.
• Medium. The following breeds represent this type of dog: East European and German Shepherds, Dobermans, Husky and Giant Schnauzers.
• Lungs. This type is represented by pit bull terriers, airedale, boxers.

Why and in what cases does a dog attack?

There are a number of reasons that provoke dogs to attack:

• A person can, without even knowing about it, invade the territory that the dog guards and considers his own. This may be the apartment where he lives, a nearby landing, a courtyard where the dog often walks.
• Unfortunately, situations happen when the owner pits his wrestling dogs on other people's pets and their owners and, thus, has fun.
• A dog can attack if it considers gestures or body movements of a person threatening to itself. So, runners and drunk people are at risk.
• The dog, guarding his master, can attack a person who threatens him or makes sudden movements in his direction.

In each case, the means of protection against dogs may be different.

Types of animal attacks

An aggressive dog, depending on the type of attack, acts as follows:

• Assault in front. With such an attack, all dogs behave, by and large, in the same way. They try to dodge the protective strikes of a person and try to get close to the side and a little behind him. When the animal succeeds, it seeks to bite the leg, arm or object with which the victim defends.
• Assault behind.Such an attack of the animal is characteristic when the victim runs away from him. With this attack, different types of dogs act differently:
  1. Dogs of a heavy type, having caught up with the victim, bite their teeth into her leg or torso and knocks her to the ground;
  2. Medium-sized dogs do not knock down their prey, but are knocked down. To accomplish this, they, having reached the running man closely, jump on him and strike with his whole body in the lower back. Also, these dogs can hit their head under the knees.
  3. Dogs of a light type easily jump onto the victim’s back and cling to their neck or shoulder with their teeth and hang on it.

Types of bites

Any aggressively-minded dog will try to use his teeth, so they quickly put the enemy out of action and make him stop all kinds of resistance. The bite can be divided into three stages:

• Enough. The first stage of the bite. Strength and damage from subsequent stages depend on its depth.
• Compression. The strength of this stage of the bite depends not only on the grip depth, but also on the size of the captured part of the body and the strength of the jaws of the attacking animal.
• Killing is the most dangerous action of a dog. After all, it is at this stage of the bite that the ligaments and muscles are injured. It happens in 0.5-1 second after the grip.

How to behave when faced with an aggressive dog?

In order to be able to use, if necessary, means to scare away dogs or other ways to protect against them, take yourself the following rules of conduct:

• Teach yourself not to be afraid of even the most terrible and scary-looking dogs. Animals always feel fear and are not afraid to attack such people. Learn to perceive an aggressive dog not as an animal, but as a small human growth. Looking at the dog from this angle, you can immediately see that its capabilities are much less than yours.
• Keep clarity, speed and logical thinking, because this is the key to success in any extreme situations. Even if you cannot escape the bite of an animal, you must overcome the pain and think soberly.
• Do not try to run away from the dog. In no case do not turn your back to her and do not let her go behind or from the side. If there is an object nearby that will help you close your back, use it to protect the rear. You can use a tree, a wall, a car, a fence for these purposes.
• Dogs that do not respond to training become insecure and less aggressive if they move away from the protected area or lose sight of the owner. Therefore, it is worth trying to retreat from the territory of the dog, turning around the corner of the house or going into the entrance.
• Dogs do not like and are afraid of sudden movements, loud noises when they throw something at them. You can try to bite your teeth and growl at the dog. No matter how funny it looks from the outside, remember that you are saving yourself. If you are going to shout at her, it is best to lower your voice and do it as much as possible with an animal growl.
• Use all items that fall under your arm as a means of protection against dogs. With their help, try to keep the dog at a distance, hammer the dog’s mouth, strike her.
• If the animal grabbed your hand with its teeth, do not try to pull it out of its mouth. Thus, you only do yourself a lot of damage. To avoid this situation, you should direct your forearm down and to the neck of the animal. Such an action will give you a few seconds that you can spend kicking an attacking animal with your legs.
• It is worth remembering the most vulnerable spots on the dog's body. A strong blow to the tip of the nose can kill even the largest dog. The bridge of the nose, the transition from the muzzle to the forehead, the middle of the back, the base of the skull, the abdomen and the solar plexus are also weak points of the dog. A blow to these places may result in the dog refusing to attack.
• As for actions that entail a fracture of the paws, ribs, tail, ears, as well as blows to the sides, they will only bring the dog pain, but will not force him to stop the attack.
• Follow the dog’s gaze - it is always directed to the place where the dog is going to clutch his teeth. Therefore, even at the time of the jump, you can knock him down. Aim at the shoulder, neck or chest area. Your movements should be fast and strong.

Important! Never provoke a dog to attack, do not scream or make sudden movements in the direction of its owner. Do not pet other people's dogs, give them commands. Animals do not understand words, but are well versed in intonations. Particular care should be taken near the dogs in the muzzle and those that are driven on short leashes, because all these measures are taken, as a rule, not in vain.

Dog Protection

To protect against four-legged aggressors, you can use all the same means that are suitable for protection against people with criminal intentions:

• A gas spray with IPC or OS substances is enough - an effective tool for protection against dogs. Substances such as CS and CN have absolutely no effect on dogs, so don’t try to stop the dog’s attack with such spray cans.
• A gas pistol with pepper ammunition will be an excellent tool to protect against four-legged enemies. Shooting from a revolver or a gas pistol with blank or flashing light ammunition is also an effective means to scare away dogs.

Important! Barrelless weapons will not help you escape from a dog’s attack, but will only anger it more. Therefore, if the traumatic weapon was with you at the time of the attack, you should not use it if you are not sure that you can hit the aggressor exactly in the head.

• If you use a knife well, it will be an excellent means of protection against dogs. But it should be remembered that you can injure an animal only by close contact with it, so the likelihood of injuries to the defender is also high.
• Pocket-type rocket launcher has established itself as a fairly effective means to deter dogs. By launching a missile towards a stray flock, you will produce a tremendous psychological effect on it.
• The stun gun, like a knife, is effective only in close contact with the dog.
• Ultrasonic dog repellers are a new high-tech tool that, thanks to waves of a certain frequency, repels dogs in a certain radius from themselves. Stationary repellers can cover up to 200 square meters, but they are bulky and uncomfortable to carry. Portable repellers are small, but their radius of action reaches a maximum of 7 m.

Important! You should know that for dogs infected with rabies, as well as for trained wrestling breeds and deaf or hard of hearing dogs, such a tool as an ultrasonic repeller does not work.

The mechanism of action in the event of a dog bite

If you got injured in the form of a bite with an animal in the form of bites, the following procedures should be followed:

1. Wash the bite site with clean water and soap and, if possible, treat with a disinfectant.
2. Apply a bandage to the site of the bite.
3. Seek help from a hospital or, in case of serious injury, call an ambulance.

Otherwise, it is worthwhile to immediately take preventive vaccinations against this life-threatening person, including a disease. If the dog has disappeared, such a procedure is also carried out without fail.

Homemade Dog Repellent

There are situations when a dog or a flock needs to be scared away not from a person, but from a flowerbed, garden or vegetable garden. In such cases, the following agents are used.

Medical alcohol

Isopropyl alcohol is a harmless but effective way to scare away dogs from the site. Dogs can not stand the smell of alcohol, so the owners of beds and gardens moisten tampons in medical alcohol and leave them on the site.

Hot peppers

This tool can cause acute irritation of the mucous membranes and respiratory tract in dogs, so dogs carefully avoid places where pepper is present. Sprinkling powder on the sites, you protect them from tetrapods.

Citrus

The smell of these fruits also annoys dogs. By wiping the furniture with juice, you protect it from sharp teeth.
