Hob socket
As soon as all the troubles with the choice of a suitable hob are completed, the purchase is framed and a new, beautiful, ideally suited for the functionality hob has already been delivered to you, a number of next questions arise. Now they are connected with the correct installation and connection. To connect the stove to the mains, you just need to plug it into a power outlet. But what to do if only one part is bought - the cooking panel, what kind of outlet is needed for the cooking panel? Turning it on is a little harder
to contents ↑What are the phases?
In electric networks there are different numbers of phases, and this must be taken into account when connecting electrical appliances. In our homes there are:
- single-phase 220V networks;
- three-phase 380V;
- sometimes a 220V network can have two phases.
220V single phase
In houses of the old construction, it comes with two conductors, the wires usually have the same color. To find the phase, use a screwdriver with an LED or a tester. If the LED lights up when touched, this is the phase, otherwise it is zero.
If there are three wires, they are made in different colors:
- red or brown indicate phase;
- blue or blue - neutral;
- yellow-green is the earth.
Important! With the same color of the wires, in this case, a tester is used to search for the phase, and the neutral is detected using a tester or multimeter.
All these nuances are very important for the correct outlet for the hob. Otherwise, the consequences can be either simply inconvenient for the user in terms of a non-working stove or oven, or emergency with burnout.
220V with two phases
This can sometimes be found in new buildings:
- the phase in this case is indicated by black and brown wires;
- zero - blue;
- the earth is yellow-green.
380V with three phases
If all colors are observed correctly, earth and neutral are indicated, as usual, and for phases they are used in yellow, red, green or white, black and brown.

Hob connection
A power cord is not supplied with the hob. This is not because the manufacturer is very greedy. Simply, when connecting, a variety of schemes can be used, in which two and six wires can be used.
Important! After purchasing the panel itself, you need to purchase not only wires, but also a network cable. It is best to choose a stranded one that bends better.
Before connecting the induction hob, you should carefully read the instructions:
- First of all, you will have to purchase a power cord corresponding to the outlet for the hob.
- Behind the plate is a metal plate covering the rectangle. It must be removed with a screwdriver.
- When the back cover is removed, the terminals will be visible. A cable clamp is inserted into the hole, and a plate is used to hold the cord. This procedure is necessary so that the wire does not fall out in the future.
- The cord is launched through the cable clamp. The screws do not need to be tightened.
- On top of the hole are wires, usually four. The location of the neutral is the center, the phases are located on the side of it, the grounding is at the bottom.
Important! Before connecting the wires, it is necessary to disconnect the copper jumper, which connects the neutral and ground wires.
- The combination of wires and terminals. To connect, unscrew the screws on the terminal connection and install the wire:
- the first to connect the yellow - green ground wire;
- then blue - neutral;
- then brown - to one of the phases.
- The previously removed copper jumper is installed between the phase terminals. This procedure is performed for rooms with a supply voltage of 220V.
- Then the screws are tightened, thanks to which the supply cable is fixed.
Important! Be sure to check how strong the connections are. Otherwise, it will be necessary to repair not only the household appliance, but also all the wiring.
- After the connection is completed, you need to check that the power cable is tensioned. Do not let it sag.
- The panel is connected to the network to check its operability.
to contents ↑Important! It should be noted that during installation, the plug for the hob may not be used. In this case, a separate line is output from the junction box.
Types of installation
Installation can be hidden or external - each owner chooses for himself. But:
- In wooden houses, only external wiring is performed. The fact is that wood is a combustible material, therefore it is forbidden to place sources of ignition in it, which include wires.
- The same rules apply to kitchen furniture. If an outlet for the oven is installed, and furniture is located nearby, then everything is mounted only on the wall.
- If the walls are made of concrete or brick, any installation can be used.
to contents ↑Important! It should be borne in mind that covert wiring is considered more secure. For outdoor installation, you can use special cable channels.
Recommendations of specialists:
- By connecting an electric hob, you need to install a separate circuit breaker and RCD.
- Do not use the power supply line of the panel in order to connect other power devices - this is life threatening.
- Be sure to worry about grounding the panel housing. Moreover, the grounding should not go to the case or wires of another device, but a separate wire should be connected to the socket terminal.
