Why do malfunctions happen?

The purpose of the hoods is to remove contaminated air saturated with food odors and water vapor from the room. Therefore, the following signs indicate the incorrect operation of kitchen ventilation:

• Condensation appears on the windows.
• Amplification of smell from the prepared food.

The reasons for this may be the following:

• Clogged retractable ventilation duct.
• Clogged exhaust filter and grease trap.

Clogged ventilation duct

Often you can hear from users that they have acquired a good range hood, installed it in accordance with all the rules, but it is of little use. The hood operates normally, but condensation forms on the windows anyway.

If you bought the equipment for the first time, then before installing it you need to check the draft in the exhaust duct. If air does not circulate in it, then even the most powerful fan is powerless:

• Traction is checked using a lit match or a regular lighter. If the draft is normal, then moving air deflects the flame.
• You can use a paper sheet to check the draft. The presence of air circulation is easy to detect by attaching the sheet to the ventilation grill.

Important! The ventilation duct in a private house can be cleaned independently. If we are talking about an apartment building, you will have to contact a specialized service. If cleaning the ventilation duct for some reason is not possible, then for the exhaust hood to function properly, it is necessary to remove the outlet pipe in a different way. For example, through a hole made in the wall.

DIY hood repair for a kitchen: equipment malfunction

If the equipment itself is faulty, then the reasons may be the following:

• No contact at the plug or outlet.
• The power cord is broken.
• There is no mains voltage.
• Blown fuse.
• The wires were soldered off, the terminals for connection inside the device case were loosened.
• Faulty switches or control buttons.
• For hoods with an electronic control interface - problems with the circuit board, sensors, relays, etc.
• Faulty electric motor.

How to fix the hood in the kitchen?

1. The first step in diagnosing the device is to turn on the built-in light bulb. From power surges in the network all parts of the device fail. If you are very lucky, the fuse blows.
2. To provide access to the internal connection terminals, the hood housing is disassembled by disconnecting it first from the power source.Due to the fact that the fan vibrates, the bolt fasteners often weaken and the contact disappears.
3. If checking and tightening the bolts does not produce a result, check the control buttons and switches. Verification is carried out with a multimeter (dialing mode), an ohmmeter or probe - factory or manufactured independently. First, you need to disconnect the terminals, since the windings of an electric motor with low resistance affect the operation of the indicator.

Repairing the exhaust motor at home is almost impossible, so if it malfunctions, you will have to find a replacement. There may also be problems with the starting capacitor, electronic control unit or relay.

Important! To breakdown hoods happen as rarely as possible, do not buy products from dubious manufacturers. Inexpensive Chinese products create a lot of noise during operation and quickly fail.

Malfunctions not related to the main function

Almost all modifications of hoods are equipped with local lighting. The backlight allows you to follow the cooking. As a rule, the energy intensity of bulbs is small, which saves on kitchen lighting.

The lighting source is ordinary incandescent light bulbs or halogen bulbs, as well as LED sources. If the bulb burns out, it must be replaced by first removing the protective glass.

Important! If the hood has additional functionality (steam, temperature indicators, off timer), then if the engine, socket and cord are working, remove the sensors and the electronic module and take them to the workshop.
