What is the principle of the hydraulic press?

Independent production of a press from a jack does not affect its technical indicators and quality. The characteristics of such equipment are approximately the same as that of the one produced at the factory.

At home, a hydraulic press can be used for many purposes, among which are:

1. Forging.

3. Extruding profiles.
4. Bending.
5. Pressing various items.

Important! In addition, the pressing can be used for packaging various objects made of plastic, metal or wood. In everyday life, a homemade press can be used to compact the waste remaining after metal processing. Many specialists especially often use a press to bend profiles or deform pipes.

What will be required for manufacturing?

It is quite simple to assemble such equipment using your own strengths, however, you should prepare in advance all the tools that will be required during operation:

• Be sure to prepare the welding machine, as well as a large number of electrodes.

Important! If you do not have welding skills, then you can ask for help from specialists.

• For metal processing some parts will have to find a grinder.
• As the main raw material in the manufacturing process of the hydraulic press, metal profiles are used, which can be purchased on any construction market.

Important! Do not immediately buy a large quantity - it is better to buy as needed.

What should you know before you start creating?

• The first step is to understand that the principle of operation in this equipment is the pressure that can be obtained by pump or manual action. Pressure can be supplied to the working cylinder by installing a hydraulic jack, which already has a built-in manual pump.

Important! Jacks are very different, but it is better to choose a bottle-type model, since during its use it was this type that showed the longest life.

• At the beginning of the manufacture of the hydraulic press, you should pay attention to the fact that the jack should be installed exclusively in an upright position - the option when the rod is extended down is unacceptable.
• For using this equipment at home, a minimum load force of about 10-20 tons is enough. A load force of more than 20 tons is used only when working in production.

It is also very important to pay attention to the following parameters:

1. Bed parameters.
2. The weight.
3. Piston stroke
4. Dimensions

Important! The pressure inside the cylinder is obtained using a manual or hydraulic pump. The second option simplifies the work a little, but the hand pump can be easily replaced.

Creating the foundation for a homemade press:

• The beginning of work on the manufacture of the press is based on the creation of a platform, which will continue to serve as a support, while being able to withstand the load of the press.

Important! It is worth considering that the force acting during pressing must be proportional to the nodes. In fact, the jack will try to “break” the frame structure, so its strength is the key to the quality of all equipment. The frame must be such that it can withstand a load exceeding the force that acts during the operation of the press.

• The frame opening should be such that it matches the size of the material that will be used for pressing, so you should determine the width of this part at the stage of its manufacture. The minimum width has its limits, since it cannot be less than the total dimensions of the press. When determining the exact height of the equipment, it is necessary to clarify the length of the jack, the dimensions of the working table, the free amplitude of the rod.
• The jack should be installed on the main canvas of the press, while the parts should abut against the canvas of the frame structure. Thus, all the force transmitted from the rod to the pressing or processing of the material will depend on the operation of the movable working table. It is installed on the top of the jack structure. In this case, the movement will occur using the bed up and down.
• The necessary rigidity and structural strength can be obtained using several ribs at once. To do this, you should buy metal profiles of square or angular type. The ideal profile size is 40 or 50 mm per side. Then you just need to weld two corners to each other in the lower and upper parts. Thus, you should get a profile with several stiffeners that increase the maximum allowable load limit of the structure.
• In order to give the product stability, it is necessary to weld the plate to the finished steel structure. According to the standard drawing, the metal plate should have a thickness of about 8-12 mm and a size of 200 by 250 mm.
• Next, you need to install on the equipment two springs at the jack on both sides. On the one hand, the springs should be attached to the bed, and on the other, installed on the desktop.

Important! The springs serve to return the jack to its original position, so they must necessarily have the appropriate dimensions and stiffness.

Focusing:

1. In the manufacture of a do-it-yourself press from a jack with your own hands, you should additionally also emphasize. To do this, you can use the metal material that was used to create the racks. The length of the workpiece should be equal to the width of the structure.
2. Next, you should weld two parts together, and then connect them to the supporting structure. It is necessary to weld two corners of metal, which have a size of approximately 40-50 mm on one side, to each other.
3. After that, all the workpieces must be welded together and set in place. In this case, the connection angle should be strictly 90 degrees.
