The door in the washing machine does not close

Modern technology, despite its versatility and technical excellence, often fails. And washing machines are no exception. It happens that the device stops draining water, does not start the specified program, or simply stops working without completing the washing process. There are such breakdowns in which the equipment works with minor interruptions, but if the hatch stops closing, then it will not be able to work. Unfortunately, this problem arises quite often and you need to understand why the door does not close in the washing machine in order to quickly eliminate the cause and carry out the planned washing. There are many reasons for this, so let's look at the most common of them and methods of dealing with them.

Why did the washing machine stop closing and what to do in such a situation?

First you need to check if some thing prevents the door from completely closing. If you have not identified such obstacles, then the fault lies much deeper.

Important! These problems can be associated with both mechanical damage and electronics.

Let's look at them in more detail.

Mechanical damage and their repair

Most often, the door of the washing machine does not close due to its natural temporary wear or inaccurate operation. It happens when the door is slammed too much, the washed wet linen is hung on it or rested on it.

And now more about such breakdowns.

The door handle has broken

Very often, the machine stops blocking due to damage to the handle, with which the hatch closes.

Important! The reason for this is the improper use of the unit.

To solve the problem, you just need to replace the handle with a new one:

  1. First you need to remove the front clamp that tightens the rubber door cuff.
  2. Then bend the cuff and fix the nuts holding the bolts for fixing the loops.
  3. The dismantled door must be placed glass up on the floor and unscrew all the screws.
  4. Then he takes out the glass and gets access to the handle connected to the body with the help of a special pin.
  5. We shift it to the side and in turn disconnect the handle, spring and tongue.
  6. Then install a new spring and tongue.
  7. Then the pin comes back and the handle is mounted.

Skewed locking tab or door hinges

If at closing you feel that there is some kind of resistance, most likely the reason lies in the displacement of the tongue or loops. To understand what’s the matter, you need to check the density of the hatch and the level of the door. If you visually see a skew, it will be necessary to adjust or even replace with new broken loops. Make it easy:

  1. First, disconnect the hinge and door from the housing.
  2. To disassemble the door, unscrew the screws connecting the two plastic elements, between which there is glass.
  3. We separate them from each other and change the loop, and then set it in place.
  4. Next, do the same actions in reverse order.

Important! But if everything is fine with the door, it means that the tongue broke and, most likely, it just stopped falling into the lock. There are many reasons for this, for example, it is possible to shift the rod, which fixes the tongue in the desired position. To fix this problem, you need to disassemble the door and return the stem back.

Plastic guide warped

If the door does not partially close in the washing machine, namely, a characteristic click is not heard or the hatch is not completely fixed, then the guide blocking the door is out of order. To solve the problem, simply replace the worn part, having previously disassembled the door, as described above.

Electronics problems and solutions

If you have not identified any problems with the car door, then the problem clearly lies inside it, it could be the following.

Failure of the hatch blocker

If the door closes well, but cannot lock, then look for the reason for this in the blocking device. During normal operation of the device, immediately after starting the necessary program, a signal is sent to the lever of the locking device, due to which the contact of the main switch closes. At the same time, the lever remains locked all the time, until the machine reaches, at the end of the process, the door remains closed for a few more minutes.

At high temperature, the resistance inside the ceramic resistor increases and bimetallic plates are deformed due to this, which leads to the movement of the lever and the closure of the contacts. At the same time, the latch attached to the contact plate slides outward and locks in the locked hatch position.

To the machine again began to close normally, you need to replace worn elements.

Clogged sunroof lock

Quite often, small debris in the form of threads, plastic and rubber gets into the hole of this device. To identify the problem, you need to carefully examine it and eliminate the blockage.

Control Module Failure

If you have already ruled out all the breakdowns listed above, and the elements responsible for locking the door are working, then the reason that the washing machine door does not close is because of a breakdown in the control module. And it happens when the necessary signal stops coming to the board, for example, due to a software malfunction or burnout of the contact tracks.

Important! Also, a problem may occur due to power surges.

In such situations, it is necessary to carry out a thorough diagnostics of the module, and only after receiving the results of the verification either repair the machine or reprogram the board.

Important! It’s not worth it to fix the problems in the control module yourself, because it is the most important element of this device and its damage can lead to serious financial costs.
