How to make a chair for a summer residence with your own hands?

• Power tool: drill, jigsaw.
• Fasteners: nails, screws, bolts, washers.

General principles

The whole process of making wooden furniture is as follows:

1. Make a drawing of the chair on paper, indicating the size.
2. Transfer the piece of furniture to the lumber.
3. Cut out all the details, sand.
4. Mark the places where parts are attached.
5. Drill through holes for fasteners.
6. Fasten all parts with self-tapping screws.
7. Putty all the cracks, sand the surface of the furniture with fine emery.
8. The surface of the chair is primed and open with varnish or paint.

Model No. 1. Fabric armchair

For work you will need the following materials and tools:

• Round slats: 2 pcs. 55 cm, 2 pcs. 60 cm, 1 pc. - 65 cm.
• Racks of rectangular section (25x60 mm): 2 pcs. 120 cm long, 2 pcs. 110 cm, 2 pcs. 62 cm each
• Furniture bolts and nuts (diameter 8 mm).
• Round file.
• Fine sandpaper.
• Glue.
• A piece of durable fabric (200x50 cm). Use abrasion resistant fabrics, for example: tarpaulin, canvas, mattress teak, jeans, camouflage material.

Having prepared everything you need, proceed as follows:

1. Cut the slats to the required length. Use hardwood - oak, birch or beech are suitable.
2. Grind reiki carefully.
3. Assemble two rectangles from the slats of rectangular and flat section, which will be the frame of the chair. To do this, step back from the ends of the rectangular slats and drill holes with a diameter of 2 mm. Lubricate round rails with glue and install in holes.
4. At a distance of 70 and 40 cm from the corners of the frames, drill holes with a diameter of 8 mm.
5. In one of the frames (smaller) at a distance of 7-10 cm, make 3-4 cuts so that it is possible to change the position of the back. Grind cuts with a round file.
6. Fully assemble the deck chair frame.
7. Fold the deck chair and measure the length of the fabric on the seat. Keep the fabric slightly stretched.
8. Process the edges of the fabric and nail to the round slats on the frame.
9. Wrap the cross-members with the edge of the fabric and fix with the help of small studs with thick hats. You can not nail the fabric, but fix it on the crossbars with the help of peculiar loops.

Model No. 2. Rocking chair

To make a rocking chair with your own hands from wood, you will need:

• Euro plywood 30 mm thick.
• Jigsaw.
• Grinder or manual milling cutter.
• A bar of 50х25 mm for cross rails.
• Fixing elements: confirmats 5x120 mm (12 pieces) and self-tapping screws for wood 4x45 mm (140 pieces).
• Sandpaper.

Manufacturing process:

4. Sand the parts and chamfer them with a hand mill or grinder.
5. Cut 3 pans from plywood 120 cm long and 10 cm wide. Sand details.
6. From a bar, cut 35 pieces of 120 cm each. Sand Reiki and chamfer them.
7. Approximately in the middle of the outer arc of the side spars, mark the attachment points of the tsar (in the area of ​​the legs and the head).
8. Transfer the marks to the second sidewall and drill holes with a diameter of 8 mm.
9. Drill mating holes with a diameter of 5 mm at the ends of the tsar.
10. Pull the frame of the chair with drawers and secure them with confirmations.
11. Assemble the frame of the future chair.
12. Take the cut transverse rails and fasten them with screws to the seat.
13. Putty all the cracks and sand the surface of the furniture with fine emery.
14. Prepare the wood with a primer after pre-saturating the wooden parts with an antiseptic complex.
15. Apply the exterior varnish in three thin layers.
