It often happens that both surfaces are finished with plastic, then the first thing is done is the ceiling, then the baseboard is attached to finish the wall.

What materials will be needed to install PVC skirting boards?

Installation of plastic ceiling skirting begins with the calculation of the required amount of materials and the preparation of tools that will be needed to perform the work. More precisely, you will need the following:

• Skirting board.
• All components for it.
• Hardware.
• Glue.
• Roulette.
• Screws, screws.

Measurements are performed as follows:

• First, using the tape measure, the length of the sections where the baseboard will be laid is measured.

Important! Please note that the standard length of plastic baguettes is 3 or 6 meters.

• Then divide the measurements by the length of the selected frieze, round the result up. This figure will tell you how many pieces you need to purchase.
• Since it is difficult to connect the fillets at the joints, it is recommended to purchase plastic inserts and corners. They will help you connect the elements at the outer and inner corners or increase the length.

Self-assembly of plastic ceiling plinth

In this section, we will describe in stages how to make skirting corners for plastic panels on the ceiling. Be sure to keep in mind that baguettes for PVC panels do not need to be mounted separately from the panels or after they are installed. Such skirting boards are installed exclusively complete with MDF or PVC panels, on a pre-made frame made of metal or wood.

Arrangement of the frame

Installation of fillets on the ceiling and wall is carried out in conjunction with the installation of the plinth.

Install the frame as follows:

• Install wooden or metal rails across the panels or horizontally at the same distance of 40-50 cm.
• The top rail is mounted as high as possible, under the ceiling itself, so it is the basis for mounting the baseboard.

Important! The lower profile is installed under the floor itself, so it can be used to install PVC panels or install flooring.

• If the walls are even, then install the frame rails directly on them and attach with screws and plastic dowels. If they are uneven, then first align the frame with wooden wedges that are inserted under the slats.
• Screw the suspensions to the wall every 40-50 cm along the installation line of the rails. As a rule, the rails are screwed to the extreme suspensions, and then leveled by level.

Important! It is easier to level when the upper and lower rails are screwed first, and then intermediate rails are inserted.

• Take a rule or a building level, attach intermediate slats to it end to end.
• Drive the dowels into the frame with the screws embedded in them and tighten them.

Important! If you decide to mount the wooden frame directly to the wall, then you do not need to drill holes in the rail first, and then in the wall. It’s easier to drill a wall directly through a wooden profile.

Mounting the ceiling baguette

When the frame is ready, you can proceed with the installation of mounting profiles.

Important! Remember that one of the three sides of the profile has the form of a tongue where the lining is laid, while the other part simply presses the ceiling.

Perform installation according to this scheme:

1. A ceiling plinth is installed on the top rail mounted under the ceiling itself. Therefore, it should be installed after finishing the ceiling with PVC panels, determining its lower level, because the rail should be located under the ceiling.
2. By the time the ceiling panels are installed, the ceiling should already be finished with MDF or PVC battens. It is important that its edges are not fixed on the plastic profile, so as not to interfere with the tight fit of the ceiling baguette.
3. The fillets can be attached to the wooden frame of PVC by means of a stapler or metal brackets, or wood screws.
4. Do not forget that at the same time as the ceiling plinth you need to mount other profiles for PVC panels.
5. To make it more convenient to go around the inner and outer corners, connect the ceiling plinth, extend it, use special connecting elements. Remember the end caps.
6. It is better to mount the connecting elements with glue or silicone so that they do not pop up when struck, especially for the plugs and external corners.
