DIY clay paintings

Polymer clay is a modern material for needlework, which is successfully used to make all kinds of women's accessories, for example, beads, bracelets, decor for hairpins, hair bands, handbags and brooches. However, this plastic mass can also be used to make beautiful decorative elements. For example, candlesticks, paintings, photo frames. In this article we will talk about creating a picture of clay with our own hands on the theme of autumn. Mushroom panel will give you a small piece of an autumn fairy tale, which will be stored in your home.

Creating autumn paintings from polymer clay

Sequencing:

  • To begin with, we need to make a tree bark, on which all the heroes of our autumn picture will be located. To do this, roll the flagella from brown, black, beige, orange and white clay pieces, connect them together, and then twist them into a spiral. Repeat this process until the lines on the “core” become thin and smoothly pass into each other. Roll the resulting workpiece along the lines using a rolling pin.
  • Now attach a piece of cardboard to the blank. Carefully trim the edges of the clay, but do not wrinkle the trimmings - they will come in handy very soon.
  • Armed with the necessary tools (a toothbrush, a needle, a toothpick), begin to turn the layer into a bark: draw longitudinal lines - thick and thin, sharp and smooth, long and short.
  • Tear the clay scraps along the lines and fix them on the top of the composition (from the bottom - it is not necessary, since there will be moss and mushrooms). Continue to create a texture of wood bark.
  • Now start creating chanterelles. To do this, form a drop of orange or yellow balls.
  • Attach the wide tip to the table and press it to the finger. Draw grooves with a needle. With the blunt end of the blade, detach the edges of the chanterelle from the surface. Create multiple copies of different sizes.
  • Attach the chanterelles to the bottom of the tree, alternating with moss.
  • But how to make moss? To do this, take the clay of black, gray and green colors, mix lightly and, tearing the pieces, fix them on the bottom of the picture. Using a toothpick or needle, give moss a special texture.
  • It was the turn to make leaflets - this is also quite an interesting process when creating a picture of clay with your own hands: tightly connect pieces of clay of different colors. Roll out with a rolling pin, fold and roll again.
  • Cut the leaves with a cutter and, placing on the picture, draw streaks with a needle.

Important! If you plan to make bends on the leaves, then give them textures before fixing to the panel.

  • Now we will make the main characters of the picture - white mushrooms. To make them, combine a drop of beige polymer clay with white and roll two balls. From the smaller one, make the leg of the mushroom and carefully press it to the panel. Using a cutter, make many, many small cuts on the leg, like a real forest mushroom. The second ball will serve as a hat: press it to the leg.Leave the upper part smooth, and the bottom - give a special texture with a toothbrush.
  • From the scraps of leaves, make grass and, together with the balls, attach to the mushroom on the panel.
  • In the center of the composition we will place the boletus. In order to make it, take the clay of milky color and make a leg, then press it to the workpiece. When sticking the tip of the needle into the leg, pull it up and pull it out, pushing out tiny pieces of clay. So the surface of the legs of the fungus will become loose and more like a real one. Mix brown and orange clay. Form a mushroom cap and attach it to the leg and bath. Make a rough surface with a toothbrush.
  • Now we will paint the mushrooms. Dip a brush in black paint, wipe it with a napkin and touch the surface of the leg with very light movements to color only the upper, needle-stretched crumbs of clay.
  • Grate pastel yellow, beige, orange, lightly tint the legs of white fungi. White mushroom caps be painted with brown acrylic paint.
  • It is time to make tiny forest dwellers - breathe life into the picture. Make a sausage from a brown clay ball. Using the blunt end of the cutter, make notches, paint them black. In some places, apply black dots. The caterpillar is ready - you can decorate the hat of the fungus with it.

Important! If desired, you can make other forest inhabitants - a frog, an owl, a ladybug or a spider. It will look good if you attach small pieces of clay bark to the tree. They will make the picture more voluminous, more realistic.

  • Bake the resulting composition according to the instructions on the polymer clay packaging.
  • When the picture cools down, remove the base from the cardboard, cover the individual parts of the composition (mushroom caps, caterpillar) with glossy varnish. And dew drops on leaflets and chanterelles will imitate 3D gel polish remarkably.
