It does not always happen that the finished curtains correspond to the desired length, and sometimes there is a desire or even the need to sew curtains from the fabric you like on your own. How to hem a tulle at home, to process the top and edges, so that the curtains look beautiful and elegant? - There is nothing particularly complicated in such work. To hem the curtains yourself, you will need a sewing machine, a minimal set of materials and tools: scissors, needles, threads. The width of the hem should be slightly larger than on the sides - this depends on the material of the curtain:

• In a rigid material (organza, kapron) the width of the turn should be at least 3 cm.

1. Tuck the edges of the curtains by 0.5-1 cm and iron.
2. Sew a straight stitch 2 cm from the edge of the hem.
3. Cut the excess material of the doorway at a distance of 2 mm from the stitch. The fabric should not crumble.
4. Turn the fabric over again, press and sew. Try to get into the first line or make a seam 2 mm from it. In this case, the first seam will remain inside the hem.

Thus, a light, airy edge of the curtains is obtained with a minimum consumption of fabric for the back door.

Slanting edging

Important! For him, you will need a special foot, which should be included with the sewing machine. If you do not have it, then you will have to buy it at any of the sewing stores. 1. Measure the desired length of the curtain. For practicality, you should make it 10 cm less than the distance from the cornice to the floor, however, some people like curtains “on the floor”.

3. Buy curtain tape based on the width of the curtain, plus approximately 5 cm but side hem.
4. Tulle is placed face down and tucked 2 cm, and then smoothed.
