During the preventive shutdown of hot water in the summer, it is difficult to imagine life without a hinged water heater. In addition, it is simply necessary in apartments where there is a regular shutdown of water, and in cottages where there is no hot water supply system. The most widely used are flow-type electric water heaters, and it is about them that the article will be discussed. However, it is not enough to buy a boiler; it is important to know how to connect the boiler to the water supply. Consider all the subtleties of this process.

Device installation

A big plus of an electric instantaneous water heater is its ease of installation. Almost anyone can mount the device and connect it to the network and water supply.

You can install a boiler of this type almost anywhere, because sockets, as a rule, are throughout the apartment, and it is not difficult to hold a hose with water.

Important! It is advisable to mount the appliance only on a load-bearing wall located simultaneously next to the bathroom and the kitchen so that hot water enters both rooms. However, you can also find water heaters built into the walls - for this you will have to first hollow out a niche in the wall.

After you have decided on the location, you can start connecting the boiler. To do this, you only need a hammer drill, two anchor bolts and a wrench to screw them:

1. Having previously measured the distance between the boiler eyes, drill two holes for the anchor on the wall.

Important! If you mount the device on a tile, it is advisable to get into the seam, otherwise - use a special drill for tile.

2. Insert the anchor bolts and lock the mount inside the holes.
3. After that, you can hang the boiler on the wall.

Important! Make sure that the safety device is firmly attached to the surface and firmly bolted. In order to make sure that the installation is even, you can use the building level.

Connecting the boiler to the water supply system is slightly different at the very beginning:

• If you install the water heater on iron or copper pipes, then you will need to embed a T-shaped tee. It is desirable to install it along the central axis of the water pipe, while the vertical part should go directly to the water heater.
• In the case of polypropylene pipes, the process is a bit more complicated. You will need to make an incision on the pipe and solder special tees. This is easiest to do with a repair clutch - an American. Elongation pipelines are attached to them, on which it is necessary to fix the MPH coupling.

The distinction of preliminary preparation ends with this. Further, the connection diagram of the boiler to the water supply is no different:

1. In order to find the shortest path from the water heater to the water supply system, you can use the usual plumb bob. Connect it to one of the two boiler fittings and measure the distance.
2. Turn off the indoor water supply using the emergency valve for cold and hot water.
3. Cut the horizontal water pipe with a grinder or pipe cutter. It is best to pre-put a container to collect the water that remains in the pipe.
4. Prepare the cutting site. If it is a metal pipe, then cut the thread, for a polypropylene pipe, just shorten the edges.
5. Install the tee according to the instructions above.
6. Screw the shut-off valve into the tee, and install a polymer or metal tube or flexible eyeliner on it. A ½ inch pipe made of metal or polymer is perfect.
7. Install a drain valve, which comes with the device, to the external inlet connection of the water heater. It is necessary to drain the water and eliminate excessive pressure.
8. On the drain valve, install the back-safety valve, without which it is impossible to start the water heater. It always comes with the device and has threads on both sides.
9. Connect the boiler to the water supply system. Connect the outlet fitting (hot water) to the shut-off valve using a pipe or hose, and the cold water hose connects to the back-safety valve.
10. After installation, you can turn on the water in the house, but it is important to first shut off the valve of the water heater.

Important! If drainage pipes are built into the wall behind the tile, then flexible piping can be used. However, you still have to cut the pipe and install a tee.

Why is a back pressure relief valve necessary?

Almost always, this device comes complete with the boiler itself, because without it the device may start to work incorrectly. It has two ends, both of which have internal and external threads. The diameter of the valve is 15 mm. As mentioned earlier, with one end it is screwed onto the boiler inlet fitting, with the other - to the drainage system, to the flexible supply pipe or pipes removed.

It performs three important functions:

• It does not allow water to go in the opposite direction, which can cause severe leakage and violation of the integrity of the pipe;
• Prevents jumps in water pressure directly in the tank;
• Carries out discharge of water into the sewerage at elevated pressure.

Network connection

It is very important to carry out the first turn on of the device to the network only after you have finished connecting the boiler to the water supply. In addition, it is necessary to wait until the water has completely filled the entire tank.

Important! As a rule, this takes only a couple of minutes if all the steps were performed correctly, and the water supply pipes have normal pressure. Otherwise - the heater, located in the tank of the boiler, will become unusable and, most likely, will not be subject to repair.

1. When buying a water heater, make sure that the cord is equipped with a fuse system. If it is not, then you should refuse to buy this device.
2. Pay attention to the status of the outlet into which you plan to connect the boiler. It must be reliable and have a water protection system in the form of a plastic cover on top.
