First of all, it will be about the advantages of such a ceiling. So, here is a list of them:

  • Leveling the ceiling without laborious roughing.
  • The ability to install a variety of fixtures, including spotlights and other light sources.
  • The ability to hide electrical wiring and communications in the design.
  • Drywall provides sound insulation and insulates the room.
  • The ability to mount ceiling structures of any complexity, the use of various decorative elements and colors.
  • You can hem the ceiling yourself, if necessary.
  • Availability of material - its cost is quite acceptable even for a modest budget.

Practical cladding tips

Applying these tips, the work will be faster, better and more efficient, and if you decide to plaster the ceiling with your own hands, you must know the advice of professionals:

  1. Arm yourself with all the tools you need: drywall, screwdriver, puncher, tape measure, suspensions, guides and bearing profiles, level, planer, construction knife.
  2. Before starting work, hang the doorways with foil. This will subsequently reduce the time spent on cleaning.
  3. Clean the ceiling from the old finish.
  4. The suspended structure will save you time since there is no need to pre-level the ceiling.
  5. When marking the ceiling, use the level.
  6. The distance of the bearing profiles from the base ceiling directly depends on how and where it is planned to install the fixtures.
  7. The marking should be carried out in such a way that the GKL joints are on the profile.
  8. Suspensions must be staggered.
  9. Before you sew up the ceiling with plasterboard, you need to check the quality of the joints of the frame, the wiring.
  10. GCR are attached to the frame using self-tapping screws.

GKL sheathing

Now that you know what you need and how to prepare everything, we go directly to the skin itself:

  1. We determine the height of the ceiling, taking into account what will be built in and hidden behind the GCR.
  2. Using a level and a regular pencil, we transfer the drawing to the ceiling, marking the points of attachment of profiles and fixtures.
  3. For ready-made marks, we establish basic profiles around the entire perimeter of the room.
  4. Then, straight lines are drawn across the room, at a distance of 0.6 meters from each other. Mounting brackets are fastened along them, the distance between which should also be about half a meter. They will serve as suspensions for supporting profiles.
  5. We install intermediate profiles at a distance of half a meter from each other. We select one of the long walls of the room and parallel to it on the ceiling we draw lines in increments of 60 cm.

Important! Before starting the process, check the location of the intermediate profiles and the strength of the joints.

  1. Begin to fasten the sheets in a checkerboard pattern from the most even corner (that is, the angle corresponding to 90 °) of the room using self-tapping screws. Other masters recommend pre-laying the wires in the profile, which will reduce the risk of shorting.
  2. After the skin is finished, carefully trim the excess with a knife.
  3. Putty the seams with a suitable mixture. The first layer of putty is applied to the joint of the sheets - it is convenient to work with a spatula 150 mm wide. After drying, apply a second coat. When the base dries, grout it without damaging the cardboard.
  4. Prime the ceiling and lay out the last layer of finishing putty with grout.

Now you know how to make the GKL ceiling sheathing at home, but that's not all.

Flexible ceiling tiered ceiling

As you guessed by the name, we will do a multi-level ceiling:

  1. We lay the profile on the floor and collect the desired length. We will move the workpieces so that the joints do not coincide and snap the profile. Make sure that all the bends fall into the grooves.
  2. Mount the mounting angles around the perimeter of the future design. Then fix the flexible profile and make the bend you need. Fix the profile, cut the grooves with scissors for metal.
  3. From the profile 60x27 make a crate. For more reliable fastening of sheets of drywall to the end, add corners.
  4. Now you can screw the GCR. Using a saw, trim the excess around the perimeter, attach the edges as you trim.
  5. Trim the ends with strips of drywall. First roll with a needle roller and wet the surface of the sheet with water. After some time, the strip can be bent.
  6. We are already starting to create the third level. We fix the corners through the surface of the drywall coating to the frame of the previous sheet.
  7. We collect the profile in the same way as described in the previous level. Fix the profile in the right place. Make the frame-crate, on which it will be necessary to fix the GCR.
  8. Trim the end of the third level with stripes of gypsum plaster. Do not forget to roll them with a roller and sprinkle with water. The design is ready, it remains only to primer and finish the finish.

Important! Installation of the ceiling should be carried out during the finishing work before repairing the floors, but after plumbing and electrical work.
