How to wash roller blinds?
Recently, more and more often owners of apartments with a modern design choose comfortable and practical roller blinds for their housing, they are also fabric blinds. Such curtains have a number of advantages compared to conventional curtains, in particular:
- They regulate the luminous flux: depending on the type of fabric - from soft diffusion to complete blackout (black-out).
- Protect your home decoration from burning out in the sun.
- The air gap between the roller shutter and the glass protects from the cold in winter and keeps cool in the summer.
- All fabrics have antistatic and dust repellent properties.
- They do not require very frequent care.
- They can be used instead of regular tulle and combined with curtains.
Important! It is not recommended to wash the roller blinds in the traditional way, due to their special design. The canvas of these curtains is impregnated with a special composition that protects the material from stretching and burnout. In any case, when buying, consult with a specialist regarding the rules for caring for them. One thing is certain: don’t wash your roller blinds in a car - this method of cleaning will only harm these delicate fabrics.
Caring for roller blinds should include several stages:
- dust cleaning - often air them;
- “Dry wash” - vacuum the shutters at least once a month with a soft nozzle, on which it is advisable to put on a fabric cover so as not to damage the surface;
- removal of complex contaminants;
- lubrication of the mechanism of roller blinds with a special spray.
To clean the curtains from stains and dirt, use the following methods:
Method 1
To remove common contaminants:
- Pour 3-4 liters of warm water into a bowl.

- Take a clean sponge.
- Dampen with water.
- Rinse the foam off the surface.
- Repeat 2-3 times.
- Dry the roller blinds flattened.
Important! Be sure to carefully remove the remnants of the detergent, otherwise, if they are exposed to sunlight, they may burn out or become stained.
If necessary, after washing, carefully iron the curtains with the tip of the iron, being careful not to touch the seams, but if there is a need to straighten them, do this through gauze or a damp cloth.
Method 2
For removing complex oily stains:
- Pour warm water into a bowl.
- Add a liquid stain remover on a natural basis (observe the proportions following the manufacturer's instructions).

- Wipe stains gently.
- With a damp, clean sponge, carefully remove any remaining product from the surface.
- Repeat 2-3 times.
