The main secret of any clothing is fabric. It is better to choose high-quality, so that it looks presentable and comfortable. But since we will use velveteen, you have nothing to worry about.

The material will need so much that it is enough to sew the skirt of the desired length, plus allowances for seams and hem. In our case, we use 105 cm of fabric, the product will be 98 cm long, suitable for a girl with average height. It will turn out to be quite long, but not too long, so the shoes will be visible and will not have to be washed after each exit to the street. The material must have a width of at least 150 cm, otherwise - you will not be able to walk freely in such a skirt.

Sew the product according to these instructions:

1. Fold the fabric on a flat surface with the front side inward, pin along the edge with pins.
2. Sew a stitch to the width of the edge.
3. Work on the bottom edge of the skirt.
4. Turn the resulting pipe to the front side, iron the seam well.
5. Take a small piece of lining fabric so that it matches the width of the velvet itself. Its length depends on the width of the gum that you plan to insert. It is important that it is not too thin in order to be able to maintain the weight of the fabric.
6. Use an elastic band of average width 2.5 cm, a piece of lining 6.5 cm wide, based on 1.5 cm on the seams and on the formation of a drawstring 3.5 cm.
7. Work the edges of the wings, just double them up, lay a line right along the edge.
8. Put the wings on the edge of the product to each other with the front sides. In this case, the backstage joint should coincide with the seam of the skirt.
9. Step back from the edge of 1.5 cm and stitch the wings. Trim the inside cut. Bend the drawstring, iron. Stitch the seam in a zigzag direction to the side. Bend it inside out and iron it.
10. Inside, bend the free edge of the curtain to 1 cm wide than the width of the curtain, that is, in our case, to 3.5 cm. Lay a line of 2-3 mm along the edge of the curtain to make the fabric hold well.
11. Take the gum. To measure the required length, just try it on yourself, the main thing is to make you comfortable. Then stab the pin and thread the elastic straight into the wings. Fasten its ends.
12. It remains to process the bottom edge. Tuck it 3 cm plus 1.5 cm, wrap inward, lay the stitch.

Important! Such a wonderful skirt is suitable for girls with wide hips and a pronounced waist, because the assemblies formed by an elastic band will smooth out the feminine curves of the figure. If you have full hips, then choose the option with a lower fit.

3. Make out the top. Tuck the top edge of the garment to the width of the elastic, about 2-4 cm, stitch. Leave between the beginning and the end of the seam a distance of 1-2 cm unstitched, then to stretch the rubber through it.
4. Retract the elastic with a hairpin or pin. In length, it should correspond to the length of your baby’s waist, minus 1-2 cm. Be sure to check how well the elastic band holds the skirt and whether it compresses the waist. Sew together its ends, sew a hole.
