The process of fixing things with a secret patch sewn in a special way is called stitching. This is not difficult to do, and even those who do not have much experience in sewing with a sewing machine will succeed. Just know how to use the machine and be able to scribble in a straight line.
Very often, jeans are rubbed between the legs and this can be fixed using the thingy method, since you can’t put a decorative patch on it, unless you can close the leather patch like that of a cowboy’s and embroider it. What is needed for this and how to sew a patch manually?
Required Inventory:
- Pick up a piece of base fabric - the one that will be inside. This may be a special adhesive patch fabric that is sold in sewing stores.
Important! You can take the lining fabric (non-woven, doublerin) or just any flap in the house, but the main thing is that it is soft, not thick and not loose.
- Match the sewing thread to your jeans color. It is better to go to the store directly with them to choose the perfect ones.
Important! The thickness of the thread should be No. 35-45. Knowledgeable craftsmen advise: "The thinner and more elastic the thread, the better."
- Prepare pins or thread with a basting needle.
Procedure:
- Turn jeans inside out and straighten them well.
- Attach the paper to the rubbed places, circle the hole and make a template for the necessary patch.
- Lay the template on the base fabric, cut out the patch of the required size and shape.
Important! The main thing is that the patch is larger than a hole 2 cm around the entire perimeter.
- If the fabric is glue, then gently and evenly attach it to the right place with the sticking side to the jeans, press it with a hot iron.
Important! The best operating mode of the iron for this is “cotton” + steam.
- If this is an ordinary fabric, then sweep with a thread or fix the patch in the right place with pins
Important! If you opted for pins, then use those that have ears, not beads at the end, so that they do not interfere with the claw of the machine to move along the fabric.
- When you have fixed the patchwork from the inside, turn the jeans to the front side.
- For convenience, circle the area where the patch is attached.
- Wrap the same thread that you will be sewing on the bobbin.
- Adjust the thread tension on the sewing machine, you can even slightly loosen on the top.
- Now start scribbling from one hole border to another, going beyond its edges by 1.5-2 cm.
Important! Sew in a zigzag, but you can also use a simple stitch of medium length, in the same direction as the threads on the jeans.
- When you have reached the end - move 1 thread to the side, switch to reverse (reverse), make the same line.
Important! If your sewing machine does not have a reverse (reverse function), then reaching the end of the line, raise the presser foot and turn the jeans over in the opposite direction. And so it will be necessary to do each time, reaching the border of the patch.
- Lay the lines thickly, close to each other until you darn the whole hole.
- When you are finished with longitudinal lines, go to the transverse ones. Sew the same way: forward - backward.
Important! Cross stitches should also match the direction of the jeans threads.
- Be careful not to get “unnecessary" sections of your pants under the presser foot. Then it will take a very long time to rip everything apart.
- When you have finished sewing and were able to make a patch on jeans, turn your pants inside out and cut off the excess, remove the basting or pins.
Everything is ready. Now there is no trace left of the wiped places; they are sewn up firmly and imperceptibly.

Decorative patches

Set-in
The hole is given the correct shape, its edges are bent and hemmed inwards. The patch itself is applied on top and attached to the fabric with a hidden seam. That is, replace the defective area with a new one.

How to sew a patch manually?
Not everyone has a sewing machine in the house, and even if such a device is left from her grandmother, girls do not always know how to use it correctly. In this case, in order not to aggravate the situation, it is better to sew the patch manually. How to do it? - One of the following methods:

- If you prefer the Grunge style in clothes or just light negligence, then you can sew a patch cut from old jeans on your favorite jeans. On the edges of the flap, loosen the threads and sew it with a rough seam manually.
If the jeans on your knees broke through, and you don’t want this “fashionable touch” at all, you can enlarge the hole a little, artificially create a symmetrical one on the other knee and sew a lining patch of bright fabric or fabric with sequins:
- Just cut a flap from a suitable fabric that is larger than a 2 cm hole.
- Hem the flap from the inside on a typewriter or manually in a circle.
- After everything is ready, smooth this place with an iron.
